Modelo 210 Guide
How to File Modelo 210 Online: Step-by-Step Guide
How to file Modelo 210 via the Agencia Tributaria portal — all steps explained.
Do you need to file Modelo 210?

Filing Modelo 210 online via the Spanish tax authority portal (Agencia Tributaria) is possible, but requires some preparation. This guide walks you through the process.
Who Is Direct AEAT Filing Suitable For?
✅ Spanish language skills available ✅ Cl@ve PIN or digital certificate in place ✅ Straightforward case (personal use, 1–2 owners)
When Does a Guided Solution Like Fiscaro Make Sense?
✅ No Cl@ve PIN, no digital certificate ✅ Multiple owners ✅ Uncertainty about the calculation ✅ No Spanish language skills
Fiscaro handles the full submission digitally — no AEAT access required, no Spanish needed.
What Documents Do I Need for Online Filing?
- NIE number (Spanish foreign identification number) — mandatory
- IBI bill — contains the catastral value (Valor Catastral), Referencia Catastral (20-digit property reference) and Año de revisión
- Ownership share — if co-owned, know the percentage
- Tax year — which year the return covers
- IBAN — for tax payment via SEPA direct debit
- Cl@ve PIN or digital certificate — for direct filing via the AEAT portal (Spanish tax authority)
Step 1: Ensure you have a NIE and access credentials
Without a valid NIE (Spanish foreign identification number), filing is impossible. For online portal access, you will need either a Cl@ve (Spanish digital identification system) or a Spanish digital certificate. The available registration procedures for Cl@ve may change. Current options can be found on the AEAT website.
Step 2: Find the cadastral value
The current cadastral value of your property can be found on the Catastro document ("recibo del IBI") or via the Catastro website (catastro.meh.es). You will need the "Referencia Catastral" of your property.
Step 3: Complete the form
In the Agencia Tributaria portal, select Modelo 210. The form asks for your personal details (NIE, home address), property details (Referencia Catastral, ownership share), type of income (imputed income or rental income), and the calculation basis.
Step 4: Payment and submission
After completing the form, you receive a preliminary calculation. You can pay directly online (direct debit from a Spanish account, SEPA transfer, or credit card) or print the form and pay at a Spanish bank. After payment, you receive a submission confirmation ("número de justificante") — keep this safe.
Common Mistakes When Filing Online
Mistake 1: Selecting the wrong tax year (Ejercicio) The AEAT form asks for the "Ejercicio fiscal". For tax year 2025, you enter "2025" — not "2026". The form often defaults to the current year, which leads many filers to select the wrong period.
Mistake 2: Entering the wrong tax base (Base imponible) The AEAT system does not calculate the tax base automatically. You must compute catastral value × 1.1% (or 2%) yourself and enter the result manually. Anyone who enters the full catastral value as the base imponible may end up with a tax figure that is many times too high.
Mistake 3: Session timeout and data loss The AEAT session expires after 15 minutes of inactivity — without warning. If you pause to look up your IBI receipt or Referencia Catastral mid-form, all entered data is lost. Tip: have all documents ready before you log in.

FAQ
Can I file Modelo 210 online without a Cl@ve PIN or digital certificate? Not directly via the AEAT portal — one of these access methods is required there. With Fiscaro, you can file entirely online without needing your own Cl@ve PIN or digital certificate.
How long does it take to register for Cl@ve PIN from abroad? Registration requires a personal appointment at a Spanish consulate. Expect 2–4 weeks for an appointment slot, plus additional time for activation. If you already have a Cl@ve, the online filing process itself takes 30–60 minutes on the AEAT portal.
Does the AEAT accept SEPA direct debits from non-Spanish bank accounts? Yes. You can enter the IBAN of any European bank account in the Modelo 210 form. The AEAT will collect the amount via SEPA direct debit. Alternatively, you can pay by bank transfer or in cash at a cooperating Spanish bank branch.
